Wick Catcher / Target Balance Lock-in
Set a target balance, walk away, and let the system catch those wicks for you.
The Problem It Solves
You're in a winning trade. Price spikes to your target for a split second, then reverses. If you weren't watching, you missed it. Worse - if you have multiple prop accounts, you can't possibly watch them all.
Wick Catcher monitors your account balance and closes positions the moment your target is reached.
How It Works
- Enter a trade across your selected accounts
- Set your target balance for each account (or globally)
- The system monitors real-time P&L
- When any account hits its target balance, positions close instantly
The system watches balance, not price. This means it accounts for your actual entry, spread, and fees.
Setting Up Target Balance
For each account, you can set:
- Target Balance - The account balance at which to close all positions
- Target Profit - Alternatively, specify profit amount (current balance + X)
When the account's real-time balance reaches the target, all positions in that account are market-closed.
Example Scenario
You have 5 prop accounts, each with $50,000 balance. You set target balance to $50,200 on each (+$200 profit).
You enter a long position on ES across all accounts. Price runs up, wicks to your target level for 2 seconds, then reverses hard.
Without Wick Catcher: You were making coffee. You missed the wick. Price reversed. You're now underwater.
With Wick Catcher: The system caught the wick. All 5 accounts closed at +$200 each. You made $1,000 while making coffee.
Why This Matters for Prop Traders
- Can't watch 10+ accounts - The system watches all of them simultaneously
- Wicks happen fast - Humans can't react to 2-second spikes across multiple accounts
- Consistent profit taking - No emotional decisions about "letting it run"
- Sleep better - Set your target, walk away, know the system has you covered
Best Practices
- Set realistic targets based on your stop loss and risk-reward
- Account for fees in your target calculation
- Use with trailing stops for maximum flexibility
- Test on eval accounts first to understand the behavior
Limitations
- Closes at market price - during fast moves, you may get slight slippage
- Monitors account balance, not individual position P&L
- If you have multiple positions, all close when target is reached
